Felipe Bernal Guarín

Felipe Bernal Guarín is an expert with over 12 years of experience in the energy sector, encompassing roles as a strategy advisor and project manager in both public and private domains. He has made significant contributions to the development of industrial policies and the promotion of energy transition initiatives.

Felipe currently serves as a Global Energy Fellow at Columbia’s Global Energy Policy Center (CGEP) and is actively involved in impact finance and capital mobilization, focusing on financing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Emerging and Frontier Markets. He is also at the forefront of leading the Hydrogen Economy draft bill in Colombia.

He is a member of the Global Expert Community of the World Energy Council (WEC) and has served on the boards of the Colombian Hydrogen Association and WEC in Colombia. Felipe has been instrumental in advising on the drafting of industrial policies and has contributed as a fellow and lead author at the World Economic Forum (WEF) for the Data for a Common Purpose Initiative.

Felipe’s academic credentials include being part of the first cohort of the MPA in Global Leadership at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). His professional journey includes notable roles such as Country & Regional Manager for LATAM at Hinicio, where he received the prize for Best Consulting H2 Services in the LAC Region, and Manager for PwC Strategy& in the Strategy, Markets & Growth line of service. In these roles, Felipe has been committed to building and sustaining high-performance teams, structuring national sectoral business plans, and regional export strategies.

As a regional speaker and thought leader, Felipe has significantly contributed to conversations on energy transition challenges and continues to shape the future of the energy sector through his strategic insights and innovative approaches.
