He is recognized for his ability to unlock innovation through compassion and for his ability to safely navigate and operate in chaotic environments and through disruptive change. He is a trusted advisor to individuals, companies, and governments faced with uncertainty. He is known to his friends, clients, and colleagues as being creative, solution oriented, and capable of solving complex problems. Possessing exceptional management and leadership capabilities with a humble subservience to purpose; he is known as being entrepreneurial, highly adaptive and described as a “ realistic optimist ”. A person of diverse interests and experiences , he has successfully worked with companies involved in Energy, IT, Private Equity, International Trade, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Licensing of Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, R&D, Socially Responsible Businesses, and Education. This depth and breadth of knowledge has allowed him to develop a unique capability to find order in chaos and operate and lead in the most challenging situations. A native Texan and a global nomad, when he is not home in Canada, you can find him indifferent parts of the globe seeking out innovative ideas and having conversations with interesting people. and economic empowerment. Most recently, Grayson has developed policy, frameworks, and projects using the exponential technology of “the Metaverse” – with a specific focus on XR, Mapping, AI, NLP, and distributed ledgers/“blockchain”. He is currently looking at the impacts of decentralization and the rise of municipalities in setting the global agenda and addressing the biggest challenges of the 21st century. While he continues to work with governments and large corporations, Grayson believes that the best minds need to be focused on Climate Adaptation and Food Security. He is currently serving as the the founding Lab Manager of the award winning and internationally recognized Smart Waterloo Region Innovation Lab; and continues to teach and inspire at various colleges and universities around the world.
